| I condemn, You condemn, Lets all condemn... |
Everytime a terrorist attack occurs, our politicians belt out the same emotionless commentary "We condem these attacks...our sympathies are with the families....blah blah....here is cheque of one lakh rupees as compensation". Condemn, my foot!
Indians are tired listening to this same rhetoric over and over. And this time, they are really angry. I can sense it. We all can sense it. Warding off politicians, refusing to accept compensations, public protests, collective media and blog outrage, forcing politicians to resign...all signs denoting that "Enough is enough". Indians are angry today and they are united in grief. And they dont really care if the Home minister resigns or the Chief minister. The problem still exists. I won't be surprised if tomorrow we see Rang de Basanti being enacted in real life. The average age in India is 26 and their blood is boiling. They are asking just one question - Which is the country that, if suddenly made to vanish today, will solve half of the world's terrorist problems? We all know the answer to that question. You certainly arent advocating a war with Pakistan are you? Because that isnt of any use. we all know how wars turn out. besides while a lot is left to be desired, we need to clean up our own act, our own laxity and failures and then go around cleaning up those around us. And I believe there are other ways to get Pakistan into doing the right thing, cornering them via diplomatic and economic pressures. Unfortunately uncle sam wont agree to any of that, india needs to build its case internationally and that pressure itself will see the pak govt crumble into doing the right thing for the first time. but please lets stop at that...

Pakistan has attacked India 3 times, why do you think they do that?

one look at the history and you would know that neither diplomatic nor economic pressures would do anything. Back in 2001, when pak militants attacked our Parliament, we went through this same routine...economic pressure, building intl case, diplomatic war etc....and what happened? any improvement? Zilch. terror camps still exist, dawood and others still reside there; Masood azhar also operates from Pak, after he was released in kandahar. pakistan never had a stable govt in its entire history...military coups, authoritarian regimes, presidents being shot or sent into exiles...the administration there starts counting the no. of days left, as soon as it comes to power.
In my opinion, India should adopt a multi-pronged strategy....To begin with, India should stop all trains, bus service etc...this is, according to me, the worst idea anyone could have ever implemented....i dont care if there are good pakistanis who want to visit India....there should be no transport and communication back and forth....period. Next, snap all trade ties with them...no sugar export, wheat etc. Next, throttle them by stopping the Indus waters which run through India first and then Pakistan. Build dams, reservoirs and canals...restrict water supply..divert it to mainland India. I know this will be bad for pakistani ppl, but just like Pak govt. blackmails us all the time, we will use this method to blackmail them.
Next, Strengthen our borders, both land and sea and then use fighter planes to strike target camps inside PoK and Pak. they will strike back, but we can and have in the past, countered them successfully. They won't use nuclear weapons, because they will be obliterated from world atlas, if they strike us even once.
